Welcome to the NC State Ethics Commission

Here you will find information on the requirements of the State Government Ethics Act and the Lobbying Law along with other information that provides you with a better understanding of ethics and lobbying in North Carolina. The State Ethics Commission is responsible for interpreting the State Government Ethics Act (SGEA) and Lobbying Law and shares administration of the Lobbying Law with the Secretary of State's Office.

Candidates: Click here if you are a candidate (including incumbents who are filing for re-election) for one of the following offices:

  • Governor, Lt. Governor, Council of State
  • General Assembly
  • Supreme Court Justice, Court of Appeals Judge, Superior or District Court Judge, District Attorney, or Clerk of Court

All Other Filers: Individuals who are covered by the State Government Ethics Act & required to file an SEI (members of covered boards, certain State, university, and community college employees & current elected officials who are not filing a notice of candidacy), click here.
