JOHN G. (JERRY) BLACKMON
Senator Blackmon was born in Asheville, North Carolina. He served in the United States Navy from 1946-1950. He was educated at the University of South Carolina receiving his B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1954.

Senator Blackmon served on the Mecklenburg County Commission from 1984-1990 and in the North Carolina Senate from 1991-1997. He also served a term on the vestry of St. John's Episcopal Church and was a board member of Kanuga Conference Center and the York Home for Children. In addition, Senator Blackmon has participated on various boards in Charlotte including the Salvation Army, CCB Advisory Board, UNCC Advisory Board, and the Central Piedmont Community College HVAC Advisory Board.

Formerly, Senator Blackmon co-chaired the Charlotte Citizens Transit Advisory Group and served on the University of South Carolina College of Engineering and Information Technology Partnership Board.

Senator Blackmon is President of Carolina Products, Inc. He is married with four grown children.
