William ("Bill") Parker Pope
Mr. Pope was appointed by Speaker James B. Black (Rep.) in 2007. After graduating from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1968, he moved to Statesville, North Carolina where he joined the law firm of Adams & Dearman, which has evolved over the years and is known today as Pope McMillan Kutteh Privette Edwards & Scheick, P.A. In addition to his work through a thriving private practice, Mr. Pope has served the citizens of Iredell County as County Attorney since 1984 and as attorney for Mitchell Community College for the last thirty years. He has served a number of civic and charitable organizations in Iredell County and throughout North Carolina. He is a member of the Board of Visitors for the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and serves on several local boards, including Mitchell Community College Endowment for Excellence, Energy United Services Corporation, Iredell Christian Ministries, Food for Friends of Iredell County and is on the BB&T local advisory board. He is a former member of the North Carolina State Banking Commission (1985-1992) and of the United Carolina Bank Board of Directors. He is currently a member of the American Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, Iredell County Bar Association (President, 1982) and The Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is married to Rebecca and together they have two children and four grandchildren.
