Covered Office: Under the State Ethics Act, candidates (including
incumbent candidates) for the following offices must file a Statement of Economic
Interest disclosing certain financial, professional, and personal information about
the candidate and his or her immediate family. (G.S. 138A-22):
- Lt. Governor
- Council of State
- General Assembly
- Supreme Court
- Court of Appeals
- Superior Court Judge
- District Court Judge
- District Attorney
- Clerk of Court
o If you are NOT a candidate for one of the offices listed above,
• WHAT? 2014 SEI Candidate Form:
o If you filed a 2013 SEI with the State Ethics Commission and you have no changes from your
2013 SEI filing, you may file a
2014 Candidate No Change Form. If
there are changes since your 2013 SEI filing, you must file a 2014 Candidate Long
o If you did not file a 2013 SEI, you must file a 2014 Candidate Long Form.
• WHEN? Filing Deadline:
Candidates may file when filing the notice of candidacy. You
must file within 10 days
of the filing deadline.
• WHERE? Filing Location:
o State Board of Elections:
Candidates for Governor, Lt. Governor, Council of State, Justice, Judge or District
Attorney must file with the State Board of Elections.
o County Board of Elections:
Candidates for General Assembly or Clerk of Court must file with the County Board
Do NOT file your Candidate SEI with the State Ethics Commission.
