• WHO has to file?
the State Ethics Act, candidates (including incumbent candidates) for the following
offices must file a Statement of Economic Interest disclosing certain financial,
professional, and personal information about the candidate and his or her immediate
family. (G.S. 138A-22):
- Lt. Governor
- Council of State
- NC House of Representatives
- NC Senate
- Supreme Court
- Court of Appeals
- Superior Court Judge
- District Court Judge
- District Attorney
- Clerk of Court
o If you are NOT a candidate for one of the offices listed above,
but need to file an SEI, please return to the main page and select the correct SEI
• WHEN is the filing
o 2017 Candidates must file between December 1, 2016 and February
• WHAT form do I file? Use Candidate SEI Forms only!
o If you filed a 2016 SEI with the State Ethics Commission and
you have not had any changes in the information reported, you may file the 2017
Candidate No Change Form.
o You MUST file the Candidate
SEI Long Form IF:
- There are changes since your last 2016 SEI filing, you must file a Candidate Long
- You did not file a 2016 SEI, you must file a Candidate Long Form.

o All candidates must file their Candidate SEI directly with the NC State
Ethics Commission, not with the Board of Elections.
